Admission Procedure for Foreign Students

Admission for 2014 - 2015 is open.

Step 1:  Fill in the Application Form

The Application Form has to be filled in electronically or in your own handwriting in black ink and the undertaking is to be signed by only you. Please complete the Application Form and send the signed and scanned copy with the following documents:

  • Copy of High-school/university certificates together with the year-wise Academic Transcript duly authenticated. Original certificates should not be sent.
  • Proof of English proficiency (check online English test or contact Admission office for English proof)
  • Copy of valid foreign passport
  • Passport-size photograph as a scan
  • Curriculum vitae (résumé) in English
  • Work reference letters (if available)

All documents should be translated into English.
Information about any missing documents should be given to the admissions office at the time of application. Please contact local Russian representative, he or she will be able to help with this process.  Application form must be completed 6-8 weeks before the requested program or course sessions begin.

Step 3. Eligibility Check by Admissions Office

The Admissions Office considers potential students’ full profile including academic records, personal motivation, work experience (if any), extracurricular activities and any letters of recommendation.

The University will determine your eligibility for the said course. For Bachelor and Postgraduate degrees, the Karnataka State Open University charges a fee of Rs. 15000 for processing your case.

As result of eligibility check you will receive acknowledgement email.

Step 4. Undergo a Medical Examination

Undergo a medical examination and get the medical fitness certificate. As per government rules all international students entering India on student visa have to be tested for HIV/AIDS and will not be given admission if found to be positive. All international students will be required to pay medical fees, which include the medical insurance cover for the first year.

Step 5. Transfer Admission Fee

The Admission Fee must be paid within 15 days. Admission Fee, RS. 25000 non-refundable deposit is required. The Admission Fee will be adjusted in the total fees at the time of registration. You shall make money transfer via institute bank account.
Full bank details are indicated on our web site. If courses start in six or less weeks, full tuition fees should be transferred immediately.
If the deposit is not paid on time, the place in the course is not guaranteed. If the above payment cannot be made by the deadline set, please contact the Admissions Office to request an extension.

Step 6. Letter of Acceptance to Secure Your Student Visa

If the application is successful and the admission fees is paid, the Provisional Letter of Acceptance will be sent within a week.
The receipt of the deposit payment and the Provisional Letter of Acceptance are necessary to apply for the student visa.

Step 7. Apply for the Student Visa

On the basis of the Provisional Letter of Acceptance, contact Indian Embassy or Consulate in your respective country for obtaining a Student Visa endorsed to I.T.I.-MET GSIHM.
Any foreign national candidate having visa of any other type will be refused admissions. NRI students do not require a visa.
N.B. Neither the institute nor its representatives have any jurisdiction over decisions concerning visa applications. All decisions are made by the relevant Indian authorities.

Step 8. Pay Tuition Fees

Fees are payable at the time of Registration, failing which, they will not be registered for the program. The balance of the tuition fees must reach the institute’s account no later than six weeks before arrival and before the academic program starts.

There are two options of payments for an academic year:

  • Full payment in the amount of Rs. 125000 (tuition fees in the amount Rs. 150000 deducted admission fee in the amount of Rs. 25000).
  • 2 installment payments in the amount of Rs. 75000 and Rs. 75000 correspondingly; the first payment should be done before the enrollment, the second payment should be done not later than the start of practical training. 

Once a place is confirmed, students will receive detailed information for arrival at the institute. For any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Office.

Step 9. Get Enrolment Confirmation

Admission of international students will be confirmed only after verification of certificates, medical fitness test and payment of required fees.
Enrollment confirmation letter will be send to the student applicants.

Step 10. Upon Arrival / Foreign Registration Office (FRO)

Foreign students holding Student Visa of more than 180 days are required to register himself/herself with the local FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival. Goa Swiss Institute of Hotel Management is registered in the local FRO in Goa and Mumbai.

Travel Arrangements

Applicant is responsible for all travel arrangements to India. Once you know your arrival date to India, we will provide you with International Student Orientation program.

Spouse and Dependent Immigration

Applicants who desire to study and who are granted an Indian study visa may be accompanied by their spouse and or dependents to India. The student visa is a temporary visa; and it cannot be used as a route to permanent residency. As a result the duration awarded to the main applicant on their student visa will have the same duration awarded to their dependents/or spouse.
